A Big Boo-Hoo From Guantanomo Enemy Combatants

Apparently we're being too mean to the enemy combatants who would still kill Americans if they could. They don't like their new maximum security prison. Of course! It will be that much harder for them to escape or harass or kill guards.

Boo-hoo.

Of course, some would like to close Guantanamo altogether. That's a very bad idea.

Execution of Saddam Hussein

The big story as we end one year and begin another is the execution of Iraq's former dictator, Saddam Hussein. Some arrests have reportedly been made of persons attending the execution who taped the hanging on their cell phones and/or taunted Hussein right before he was hanged.

Of course, compared to how his own victims were treated during his regime, Hussein had it easy. He was not tortured to death, for example, as were many of his victims.

Reason No. 1 to Avoid Mass Transit

Mass transit puts innocent people at the mercy of criminals.

And here's today's case in point. A woman in Britain says that she was physically and verbally assaulted by two men on a crowded Tube platform.

As she points out, there is precious little protection from such assaults
I know I’ve banged this drum before, but the fact is that the police do not and logistically cannot protect us from this kind of harm. In this country, I am not even allowed to carry pepper spray or mace to ward off assaults like the one I suffered today. In whose world is this the right and proper order of things?
